Job description

Description

The Niles Park District is seeking energetic and reliable Summer Skating Camp Counselors to join our IceLand team! This seasonal position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with children and have a passion for skating and summer fun.

Our Summer Skating Camp runs June 15 through August 8, with camp sessions held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Opportunities for additional hours through before and after care may be available.

This is a seasonal, part-time position with a pay range of $13-$15 per hour, depending on qualifications. No benefits are provided.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Greet campers and parents daily in a friendly, professional manner

  1. Supervise campers and ensure a safe, positive camp environment
  2. Assist with daily activities, skating sessions, field trips, and water park visits
  3. Help plan and lead engaging activities that keep campers active and excited
  4. Adapt activities based on weather, attendance, or schedule changes
  5. Provide excellent customer service and represent the Park District positively
  6. Maintain clean, safe, and organized program spaces and equipment
  7. Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions

Requirements

1). Must be able to ice skate. Extensive skating experience is a plus. 

2.) Must own your own skates. 

3.) Minimum 16 years of age

4.) Experience working with children ages 6 to 13. 

5). Good skills in planning activities for children

6). Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff

7). Ability to solve problems as they arise

8). Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude

9.) Actively participates in all activities with the campers.
