Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory Extern - Temporary Summer Employment

14 Weeks - 72 hours per pay

Respiratory Therapy is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Extern to join our team.

The Respiratory Extern is a non-licensed clinical support role. The position functions under the oversight of a Respiratory Therapist or designee. The role supports respiratory care services and related patient-facing and technical areas as appropriate for the facility. The position may have exposure to respiratory equipment, supplies, and patient care environments. Work is performed in collaboration with the Respiratory Care Department.

Essential Functions

  • Perform non-licensed clinical support activities under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist or designee in accordance with departmental policies

  • Support respiratory care operations by assisting with patient flow, preparation of care areas, and general department readiness

  • Assist with the handling, transport, and availability of respiratory equipment and supplies throughout designated clinical areas

  • Participate in cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, and preparing respiratory and related biomedical equipment following established safety and infection-control standards

  • Distribute stock, supplies, and respiratory equipment to designated areas to ensure readiness and availability for clinical staff

  • Conduct daily rounds through nursing units to retrieve, return, and organize respiratory equipment for departmental use

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting overall department operations and contributing to patient-centered care

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Program
