  • Mandatory Staff Training: June 18-23
  • Camp Session: June 24 - July 31
  • Optional Extended Weeks: August 3 - August 14

The Town of Hanover Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to serve as Summer Camp Counselors. This position offers the opportunity to create fun, safe, and engaging experiences for children while developing valuable leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and actively engages campers in daily activities including games, arts and crafts, sports, swimming, andspecial events.
  • Assists with planning and implementing age-appropriate recreational programming.
  • Maintains responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of assigned campers at all times.
  • Conducts regular participant counts throughout the day, including during transitions and field trips.
  • Assists in set-up and breakdown of daily activities and ensures equipment is properly stored.
  • Helps maintaina clean, organized, and hazard-free program environment.
  • Follows all Parks & Recreation policies, procedures, and risk management protocols.
  • Reports behavioral concerns, injuries, or incidents to the Lead Counselor or Program Supervisor immediately.
  • Supports inclusion efforts to ensure all participants feel welcome and supported.
  • Performs related duties as required.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Work performed while sitting, standing, walking, and engaging in camp activities
    • Occasional lifting of light to heavy objects
    • Work performed in office spaces, site facilities, and outdoor settings


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must meet New Hampshire youth employment requirements (if applicable).
  • Successful completion of 9th Grade and currently enrolled in High School or equivalent (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum age of 15 years old.
