Job description

Beach Jr. Lifeguard Camp Coordinator

Works with Beach Jr. Lifeguard Camp Coordinators in directing the aquatic activities for the Jr. Lifeguard Camp held at the public beach or Aquatics Facility.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring aquatic activities are conducted safely and effectively at the public beach or Aquatics Facility
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age for the Beach
  • Must be at least 15 years of age for the Pool
  • Ability to pass an FDLE Level II criminal Background Check and fingerprinting
  • Must complete physical performance test for the Beach Program, consisting of: Run (300 meters) - Swim (300 meters) - Run (300 meters) or have completed two (2) summer sessions of Pompano Beach Jr. Lifeguard Camp within the last two years of hire.
  • Must complete physical performance test for the Aquatic Facility, consisting of: Swim Test of 150 yards continuous, untimed.

Education

  • Previous Beach Jr. Lifeguard camp participant.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Completion of the Jr. Lifeguard Program Authorization, Waiver, and Release (program requirement)

Key Competencies

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to ensure the safety of students in a variety of situations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to run, walk, bend, kneel
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to hear, speak, see, and read
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Additional Information

Work Days/Hours: During the summer months (the Summer Program), possible hours will be Monday โ€“ Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
