Job description

The Opportunity: PLA Media Specialists provide academic support for grades K-8 through library services. The librarian supports library/information skills instruction for the effective use of library/media center materials and facilities. The provided support will allow a direct correlation with classroom instruction and guidance with reference tools and research techniques, which build confidence, relationships, and encourage progress for scholars.
The Details:
Key Deliverables:
  • Maintain the school's library collection and resources
  • Provide students and staff with access to library resources and media services
  • Coordinate library outreach programs for students
  • Shelve books and tidy up the school library
  • Answer questions from students and teachers
  • Help teachers find materials that supplement their lesson plans
  • Manage library media resources
  • Handle budgets and library projects
  • Meet with the school leaders to discuss goals
  • Help maintain or upgrade the library's technology
  • Follow PLA /district policies for library material selection and disposal

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Computer knowledgeable
  • Experience working with children and ideally librarian skills are a plus
