Job Summary:
The Store Manager is accountable to the District Manager and is responsible for directing, developing and managing store staff to protect company assets, maintain store conditions and presentation, maximize sales and gross profits, customer and team member relations through proper controls such as sanitation, merchandising, payroll, required record keeping and compliance with company, state and federal policies, rules, procedures, regulations and laws.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Two-plus years related management experience. Associate Degree preferred or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Essential Job Functions:
Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Team Member to possess the minimum qualifications listed below. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manages, supervises and provides leadership to 100-150 team members in the store.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing

work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Maintains great store conditions per company standard every day, including compliance with company and governmental sanitation and safety standards.
  • Maximizes store sales.
  • Develops and maintains a team concept to improve associate morale, communication, community involvement and ultimately working conditions.
  • Maximizes store profits.
  • Achieves or surpasses productivity and payroll goals in each department.
  • Controls and executes shrink standards while ensuring proper inventory levels and control. Masters the CGO function.
  • Establishes and maintains a working relationship with all support staff: Price Rite staff, vendors and Wakefern staff.
  • Manages the necessary recruitment, development, training and counseling of all employees and identifies potential promotable people. Fosters and promotes a team culture that is engaged, fun, spirited and productive.
  • Manages others and adheres to company human resource and personnel policies as well as state and federal laws.
  • Maintains an ongoing awareness of competitive activity in the immediate marketing area.
  • Demonstrates and supports a high level of integrity, ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ensures proper usage compliance and handling of all supplies.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
  • Establishes an appropriate level of community involvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Has a Company recognized Food Safety Certification and/ or can successfully complete training to receive and maintain a Company recognized Food Safety Certification
