What is a summer consulting internship?

A Summer Consulting Internship is a temporary position, usually lasting 8-12 weeks during the summer, where students or recent graduates work with a consulting firm to gain hands-on experience. Interns assist with real client projects, conduct research, analyze data, and participate in problem-solving sessions alongside experienced consultants. The internship provides valuable exposure to the consulting industry, helps build professional networks, and can often lead to a full-time job offer after graduation.

What types of projects do interns typically work on during a summer consulting internship?

During a Summer Consulting Internship, interns are usually assigned to client-facing project teams where they support research, data analysis, and strategy development. Tasks may include conducting market research, preparing presentation materials, and assisting with client meetings. Interns often collaborate closely with experienced consultants and may have the opportunity to contribute ideas and insights directly to client deliverables. This hands-on experience provides exposure to real-world business challenges and helps interns develop practical consulting skills.

Exceptional communication, teamwork, and adaptability help interns stand out when collaborating with clients and senior consultants.
