Position Summary
PLEASE NOTE: This position is forthe UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west ofAlbuquerque, NM.
The University of New Mexico's Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & EducationDivision, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/oronline lower division courses (1000/2000 Level) during the Spring, Summer,and Fall 2026 semesters in the following potential areas:

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico locatedapproximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexicoestablished branch colleges to provide the highest quality of education forstudents pursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughoutthe state. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs andmulticultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offering communityeducation programs, career and technical education including certificate andassociate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students forupper division entry into colleges and universities.
The Liberal Arts & Education Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seekingqualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division classesin various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but notlimited to meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that mayinclude evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, gradingassignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning asoutlined by the division chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.
Wages:
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials andcredit hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 - $1,228.24 per credit hour.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree inAfrican Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, History, the Humanities,International Studies, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Religion, or arelated field; or a Master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in any ofthose fields previously listed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoratedegree in African Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, History, theHumanities, International Studies, Native American Studies, Philosophy,Religion, or a related field, and college-level teaching experience
  • A demonstratedcommitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of NewMexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and globalcommunities
