Job description

Make an Impact
As a Civil Engineering Designer II, you will support the Civil and/or Municipal Engineering disciplines in helping to design and develop documents for a range of public and private projects, including design documents and permits for site plans, utility plans and profiles, road design, grading plans and right-of-way plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. This will include generating and translating design concepts into final solutions within a multi-disciplinary project team. You will also receive support to work towards your Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Deliver Results
  • Perform calculations for drainage, grading, and foundation designs, assisting in the development of site layouts and structural details.
  • Contribute to the production of preliminary concepts and full design phase deliverables, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and additional materials with oversight from senior engineers.
  • Perform calculations and analyses for stormwater management systems, sanitary sewer, water supply and distribution.
  • Develop and refine CAD and BIM models for civil infrastructure, including roads, utilities, and site plans, ensuring multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Assist others with field inspection and data gathering.
  • Ensure designs align with applicable building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations, supporting preparation of permitting documents.
  • Attend municipal meetings and consult with regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Use design software/technology, including AutoCAD Civil3D, HEC RAS, EPANET, MicroStation and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent in education and experience required for professional licensure.
  • 5+ years of post-graduation professional Civil Engineering experience.
  • Comfortable working in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer In Training (passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam).
  • CSI-CDT certification.
  • Experience in HEC RAS or EPANET (water distribution).
