Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Through cooperation and partnership with the Operations
team, the Technical Writer will be responsible for
developing, editing, and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs) that will be used to train production employees for optimal performance in daily tasks. Individual
will collaborate on a team, and participate
in the onboarding, training and certification process of new employees.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collect critical information pertaining to
    optimal functionality of equipment
  • Generate work instructions, in the format of 9-Panel Power Point Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Participate in the Continuous Skills Development (CSD) Bridge to better understand training, and current training priorities
  • Collaborate with cross functional departments to ensure all procedures generated fall within the guidelines of our safety, engineering, quality, and food safety programs
  • Work directly with the Performance Based Trainer (PBT) to synchronize the development of training plans with SOPs
  • Provide weekly progress updates to a cross functional team of stakeholders
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team
  • Meet with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent with experience working in
    manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to think critically and generate innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze machine operations and recommend or implement solutions
  • Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other food safety/ food defense programs preferred
  • Must be detail and process orientated
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to train and communicate in a variety of styles and in a culturally diverse workforce
  • Ability to demonstrate humility by asking questions and involving peers
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with common office software
  • Fluency in the English language; Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Arabic a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

  • Position requires standing, repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; exposure to a variety of food allergens; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand for 85-90% of shift, sometimes up to 10 hours.
  • Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens, such as gluten, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and milk.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairways, ladders, and ramps.
  • Must be available for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
