Summer Associate Program information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Summer Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Summer Associate, you typically need strong analytical abilities, academic achievement, and relevant coursework or prior internships in your field of interest. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, research databases, or sector-specific software is often expected. Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies are crucial for delivering high-quality work, collaborating effectively, and making a positive impression during a competitive, short-term placement.

What are some common challenges faced by participants in a Summer Associate Program, and how can they be addressed?

Summer Associate Programs are fast-paced and often involve a steep learning curve, as participants are expected to quickly adapt to new tasks while balancing multiple assignments. Common challenges include managing time effectively, networking within a short period, and navigating unfamiliar workplace expectations. Seeking feedback regularly, asking questions when in doubt, and actively participating in team projects can help associates overcome these challenges and make the most of the experience.

What is the difference between Summer Associate Program vs Summer Intern?

The Summer Associate Program is a competitive, often more advanced internship aimed at students nearing graduation, offering more direct exposure to professional work. Summer Interns are usually earlier in their academic careers, focusing on gaining initial experience. Both roles are valuable for career exploration but differ mainly in level of responsibility and target candidate experience.

What is a Summer Associate Program?

A Summer Associate Program is a structured internship, typically offered by law firms, consulting firms, or investment banks, designed for students—often in law or graduate school—during their summer break. These programs provide hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and exposure to a firm's culture and operations. Summer associates work on real projects, receive mentorship, and often participate in training sessions and social events. Successful performance in a Summer Associate Program can lead to a full-time job offer after graduation.

Full-Time Lead Teacher Position
About Our School
New Day School is a Neo-Humanist early childhood program rooted in a holistic approach to education that honors the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of each child. Our environment emphasizes kindness, self-discipline, creativity, and a deep respect for all beings. Teachers are not only educators but also practitioners who help cultivate a peaceful, nurturing, and conscious classroom culture.
Position Overview
We are seeking to fill a Lead Teacher position beginning in Fall 2026. The ideal candidate is professionally qualified, grounded, reliable, compassionate, and aligned with a values-based, child-centered approach to early childhood education.
Our school year runs from September through June, followed by a four-week summer program during July and August. This position includes salaried employment during the school year and the summer program. The school is closed for several weeks during the summer, providing extended breaks between program sessions.
If you are passionate about guiding young children to realize their highest potential through love, intellectual exploration, yoga and meditation practices, storytelling, art, creativity, and problem-solving, we would love to invite you to be part of our team.
Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive, nurturing care and guidance to young children
  • Support the daily classroom rhythm, including circle time, outdoor play, meals, and rest
  • Classroom management, including organization of supplies and classroom maintenance
  • Implement New Day School's lesson plans based on Neo-Humanist principles and extend the curriculum with developmentally appropriate scaffolding that fosters creativity and independence
  • Maintain compliance with all Oregon DELC licensing requirements
  • Foster a calm, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and families
  • Participate in team collaboration and ongoing program development
Required Qualifications
  • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR)
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Oregon Registry Step level, or active progress toward obtaining one
  • Experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
  • Understanding of child development and guidance practices
Preferred Qualities
  • Warm, patient, and emotionally attuned
  • Reliable and steady under pressure
  • Drawn to meaningful, values-based work
  • Interest in holistic education (Neo-Humanist, Montessori, Waldorf, etc.)
  • Personal practices that support self-awareness (e.g., meditation, yoga, reflective practices)
Education & Experience
  • Associate degree (preferred), or
  • Bachelor's degree with early childhood education experience
  • At least one year of experience in early childhood education (preferred)
What We Offer
Compensation:
Annual Base Salary: $50,258
Annual Medical Allowance: $2,000
Total Annual Compensation: $52,258
Benefits:
  • Paid professional development opportunities
  • Access to a voluntary 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Daily hot lunch on school days
  • 10 paid holidays and up to 10 paid sick days annually
  • Paid scheduled school closure periods throughout the year supporting work-life balance
  • Opportunity to work in an eco-friendly, net-zero-energy environment
  • A peaceful, supportive workplace with a collaborative and respectful team culture
To Apply
Please send your resume and a brief introduction describing your experience and what draws you to this work.
Note to Applicants
This role is best suited for someone seeking more than a job—someone who values presence, personal growth, and contributing to a positive and conscious environment for children.
