Job description

Seeking Full-Time Certified Lead Teacher for Therapeutic Middle/High School

Job Summary:

-Plan and implement educational instruction and services in accordance with state Department of Education and as required by each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan

-Perform supervisory duties that promote teacher growth and development

-Hold administrative responsibilities that enhance compliance with quality improvement goals. 

-This role will not initially have supervisory responsibility but will be responsible for working with teachers to develop, probe and monitor goals for Individualized Education Plans, 504 Plans and Transitional Plans. After being in the position for one year or more and demonstrating proficient skills as Special Education Lead, the employee will participate in supervisory training.

Other duties may include co-teaching and/or providing support within the classroom for Special Ed students, working with teachers to provide optimum support, administrative responsibilities such as IEP development, facilitation, progress monitoring, reviewing student files, and assisting with Title 1 requirements.

Schedule:

Teachers follow a modified district calendar. Our teachers work additional days during Fall and Winter Breaks, as well as 15 days during May/June for Summer Enrichment. One note of difference is during inclement weather, our staff are expected to report to work (keeping in mind safety), while some districts may have either Virtual Learning or School Closure. These are a few of the nuances of being a certified teacher for Devereux.

We provide intensive residential treatment in a secure setting for youth ages 10 to 21 who are facing significant emotional, behavioral and intellectual/developmental challenges. Requirements:

  • Must be 21+
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
  • Georgia Teaching certification required, Special Education Teaching Certification SPED required.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience

Schedule:

  • Initial new hire paid training:  2 weeks M-F, 9:00am - 5:30pm located in Kennesaw, GA
  • Post training:  School located in Lawrenceville, M-F 8-5p
