Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. For 50 years, Outreach has changed the lives of thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in DuPage County, IL, and we are seeking to hire a diverse staff of highly competent professional employees to pursue Outreachโ€™s mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be.

Outreach is hiring a Full-Time Elementary Teacher at Outreach Warrenville to support students academically and in life skills during our Compass summer program.


Schedule

  • Staff Training โ€“ June 1 to June 5 (MANDATORY)
  • Program Dates โ€“ June 8 to July 31
  • Program Schedule โ€“ Monday โ€“ Friday: 8:30AM-3:30PM
  • An average of 32-35 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • The Elementary Teacher is responsible for building relationships with students and facilitating learning in the summer day program.
  • The Elementary Teacher will lead academic and life skills instruction, community service and recreational activities, teach Christian education, and facilitate group work with students involving experiential learning.
  • The Elementary Teacher is responsible for parent communication and maintaining Outreachโ€™s standard of classroom behavior during program time. The class size averages fifteen to twenty students.
Requirements:
  • BA in Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • A passion for working with elementary-age students.
  • Classroom or group experience with children.
  • Previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English) strongly preferred.
  • A current, valid IL driverโ€™s license, along with a good driving record, is required.
  • A commitment to Outreach's Statement of Mission & Faith.
