REPORTS TO: Manager, Student Advising Center
PLACEMENT: Grade 104
HIRING RANGE: $19.42 - $20.59

POSITION SUMMARY
Support new students through the onboarding experience within the Student Advising Center. This position requires high level discretion; to provide professional, effective and efficient customer service assistance to students, faculty, and college personnel, and support to the department. Duties require confidentiality as new student data will be processed. Under the direction of the Manager of the Student Advising Center and the New Student Coordinator, this position will provide support for onboarding and new student programs, events, fairs, and related student activities. Support the supervision of student employees. Considerable judgment, initiative, and independent action in adapting work procedures to new situations are required. Work requires knowledge of the policies and procedures within the Department and College Systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the Student Advising Center with onboarding strategies; provide follow-up and direct student support as needed.
2. Responsible for assisting the Manager and New Student Coordinator in the scheduling and logistics for all functions related to the new student experience, orientation, and onboarding.
3. Respond to new student inquiries, assist with the proper documentation for onboarding students and provide referrals to other support programs, as needed. Assist in facilities set-up and preparations in collaboration with Facilities, Media, Cafeteria, for onboarding events; collect and review assessment and feedback from onboarding experiences.
4. Support new students using advising technologies, understanding college processes, and connecting with the appropriate staff and resources.
5. Create, assess and implement a direct communication plan to help guide students through the onboarding process into New Student Advising
6. Responsible for entering new and continuing student data in student advising technology (I.e. Navigate).
7. Provide student referrals to faculty advisors for outreach for programs that do not come through the Student Advising Center
8. Maintain orientation print and Student Advising Center staff training materials.
9. Support the interviewing, onboarding and training, for student workers.
10. Assist departmental personnel with projects as assigned.
11. Work collaboratively with other departments.
12. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years of clerical/general office experience, with experience in the use of office equipment such as fax, copier, etc.
3. Strong personal computer skills with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel, internet and email.
4. Attentiveness to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate's Degree.
2. Microsoft Office Suite.
3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible availability between 7:30AM-7:30PM Monday through Thursday, and 7:30AM-4:30PM Fridays during fall and spring semesters, closed on Fridays during summer; with the possibility of an occasional Saturday.
2. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
