Job description

OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: Opus Summer Bridge Student WorkerLOCATION: St. PaulPAY RATE: $20/hourHOURS: 35 total hours throughout summer on the following Thursdays: June 4, June 11, June 25, July 16, July 23, August 6, and August 13. Additional hours may apply. Must be available from 10am to 3 pm.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Summer Bridge Student Worker supports the Opus Summer Bridge Program through a combination of academic and programmatic assistance. Responsibilities include facilitating one-on-one and small group meetings, connecting students to resources, and assisting with event planning. This is a limited-term summer position focused on supporting program implementation, leading workshops, and fostering community engagement for Dougherty Family College students transitioning to Opus. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Participate in all required training sessions and program activities  
  • Assist the Program Manager with planning and delivering Summer Bridge programming  
  • Provide academic support to Opus College of Business undergraduate students during scheduled hours, with a focus on MKTG 200 and BUSN 202  
  • Guide students to appropriate campus resources as needed  
  • Monitor student progress in asynchronous coursework and help ensure they remain on pace  
  • Meet monthly with supervisor to review student progress and program effectiveness  
  • Accurately track and report all hours worked 
  • Other duties as assigned 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Declared major in Opus College of Business  
  • Completion of MKTG 200 and BUSN 202 with a grade of B or above 
  • A minimum of 3.4 GPA  
  • Passion for supporting peer learning 
  • Ability to work with students with diverse identities and learning styles 
  • Proficiency in navigating Canvas or similar learning management systems  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interacting with staff and faculty  
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
