How much do summer age 15 jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 3, 2026, the average hourly pay for summer age 15 in the United States is $17.40, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.94 and $20.67 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of responsibilities can a 15-year-old expect in a typical summer job, and how are tasks usually supervised?

For 15-year-olds, summer jobs often include roles such as cashier, retail assistant, food service helper, or camp assistant. Employers typically assign age-appropriate tasks that focus on customer service, organization, or light cleaning. Supervision is usually close, with managers or experienced staff providing guidance and clear instructions. This supportive environment helps young workers learn essential skills, build confidence, and understand workplace expectations while ensuring compliance with child labor laws.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Summer Camp Counselor at age 15, and why are they important?

To thrive as a summer camp counselor at age 15, you need basic leadership, communication, and organizational skills, often supported by completing counselor-in-training (CIT) programs or relevant volunteer experience. Familiarity with safety protocols, first aid basics, and activity planning tools is typically expected. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a positive attitude help build rapport with campers and work effectively with peers. These skills are important to ensure a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where campers are engaged and supported.

What can my 15 year old do during the summer?

A 15-year-old can work part-time jobs such as retail, food service, or lifeguarding, often requiring a work permit depending on local laws. They can also participate in internships, volunteer activities, or summer camps to gain experience and skills. Many states allow teenagers to work limited hours during the summer months, typically up to 25-40 hours per week.

What summer jobs can I do at 15?

At 15, common summer jobs include working as a cashier, lifeguard, babysitter, pet sitter, or in retail or food service. These roles often require a work permit and may involve tasks like customer service, cleaning, or assisting customers, providing valuable skills for future employment.

Can I work at 15 in Missouri?

In Missouri, 15-year-olds can work in certain jobs such as retail, food service, or amusement parks with a work permit and limited hours. They are generally restricted from hazardous occupations and must follow state child labor laws, including work hour restrictions during school sessions and breaks during the summer.

What job is best for a 15 year old?

For a 15-year-old, common summer jobs include retail positions, food service roles, babysitting, pet sitting, or lifeguarding if certified. These jobs often require working under certain hours and may need work permits, but they provide valuable experience and skill development for young teens.

What is the difference between Summer Age 15 vs Summer Age 16?

AspectSummer Age 15Summer Age 16

Work EnvironmentEntry-level, supervised, limited hoursSimilar environment, potentially more responsibilities
Employer & Industry UsageCommon for retail, hospitality, and local businessesSame industries, often more opportunities
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding age restrictions and opportunitiesLooking for more responsibilities or different roles

Summer Age 15 and Summer Age 16 jobs are similar in work environment and industry but differ mainly in age-related work restrictions and required permits. At 16, teens often have access to more job opportunities and responsibilities, making it a key milestone for youth employment.

What jobs can a 15-year-old get during the summer?

Fifteen-year-olds can work a variety of summer jobs such as babysitting, lawn care, pet sitting, working at local parks, or in retail and food service positions like cashier or ice cream server. However, there are legal restrictions on hours and types of work for minors, so it's important to check your state's child labor laws. Many teens find summer jobs through local businesses, family friends, or online job boards specifically for teens. These jobs provide valuable work experience, help build responsibility, and allow teens to earn their own spending money.
