What is a success manager?

Success Managers, often called Customer Success Managers (CSMs), are professionals responsible for building strong relationships with clients and ensuring they achieve their desired outcomes using a company's products or services. They act as the main point of contact after a sale, guiding customers through onboarding, training, and ongoing support. Success Managers focus on customer satisfaction, retention, and helping clients maximize value, which in turn supports business growth. Their role often involves proactive communication, problem-solving, and collaborating with other internal teams to address customer needs.

What are some common challenges faced by customer success managers and how can they be addressed?

Customer Success Managers often face the challenge of balancing the needs of their clients with the goals of their company. Managing multiple accounts, each with unique requirements, can be demanding, especially when trying to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention rates. Effective time management, proactive communication, and leveraging customer data analytics are key strategies to overcome these challenges. Additionally, collaborating closely with sales, support, and product teams helps ensure client feedback is heard and acted upon, leading to better outcomes for all parties involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a customer success manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Customer Success Manager, you need strong relationship management skills, a deep understanding of your company's products or services, and typically a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce, customer engagement tools, and data analysis systems is highly valued. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and empathy are crucial soft skills for building trust and resolving client issues effectively. These skills ensure customers achieve their goals, which drives satisfaction, retention, and overall business growth.

Job description

About Organized Living
Join the legacy of Organized Living, an innovator in home organization for over 100 years. Trusted by industry professionals, we manufacture exceptional products, cutting-edge workflow automation software, and unparalleled support to our network of customers nationwide. As a privately held company, our commitment to excellence is driven by our dedicated team as we continue to evolve and adapt to meet the needs of modern life. At Organized Living, we're not just selling storage solutions-we're helping shape how people live and work in their spaces.
If you are looking to join a company with a strong strategic advantage that is disrupting an industry where commoditization has become the norm, this is your opportunity to make your mark. Our passion for innovation, technology, quality, and customer experience has led to the development of industry-leading products, programs, and software solutions that continue to drive market growth.
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and results-driven Customer Success Manager to join our Sales team. This role is responsible for growing an assigned portfolio of dealer accounts by increasing sales, driving Bid360 adoption, and strengthening customer relationships. The ideal candidate is a proactive sales professional who thrives on building partnerships, uncovering new opportunities, and achieving measurable growth.
Job Summary
The Customer Success Manager serves as the primary business partner for an assigned portfolio of dealer accounts, driving revenue growth, customer retention, product and software adoption. Working closely with the outside sales team, this role actively pursues new sales opportunities, follows up on company-generated leads, expands existing business through cross-selling and upselling, and ensures customers maximize the value of Organized Living's products, programs, and software platform.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of dealer accounts, achieving sales, retention, and growth objectives.
  • Proactively generate sales through outbound customer engagement, account reviews, business development, and strategic account planning.
  • Qualify, distribute, and aggressively follow up on company-generated leads and project opportunities, partnering with dealers to maximize engagement and convert opportunities into closed business.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with dealers, builders, contractors, architects, general contractors, and other industry partners to increase dealer growth, product specifications, and Organized Living sales.
  • Develop MultiFamily business opportunities by identifying projects, cultivating relationships with general contractors, and securing placement on invitation-to-bid (ITB) lists.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and expand customer participation across Organized Living's product lines, programs, and software platform.
  • Partner with Territory Managers, Agency Representatives, Sales Leadership, Marketing, and Operations to execute growth strategies, support major opportunities, and expand market share.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, virtual sales presentations, customer training, and business reviews to drive product awareness, engagement, and adoption.
  • Coordinate customer onboarding and ongoing education to maximize long-term customer success and software utilization.
  • Monitor dealer lead performance, provide coaching, and ensure compliance with Organized Living's expectations for continued lead eligibility.
  • Manage lead activity, sales pipelines, forecasts, project status, and customer communications within CRM and software platform, ensuring accurate reporting and timely follow-up.
  • Gather customer feedback, market intelligence, and competitive insights to support business planning, product development, and continuous improvement.
  • Resolve customer issues efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, dealer performance, and revenue growth.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of successful experience in Account Management, Inside Sales, Customer Success, or Business-to-Business sales.
  • Demonstrated success growing existing accounts through relationship management, upselling, and cross-selling.
  • Proven ability to prospect, manage sales opportunities, and consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management and follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated with a competitive, results-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience supporting builders, dealers, residential construction, building products, or home improvement industries is a plus.

Why Join Organized Living?
  • Competitive salary
  • Profit-sharing program
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Short-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Hybrid work schedule
