Substitute Teaching Assistant
Position Description
Lincoln Land Community College is seeking part-time, non-benefited Substitute Teaching Assistants to perform duties necessary to support the teaching and learning effort of the Child Development Center. These duties include:
  • assisting teachers with implementing the daily activities;
  • reporting health concerns to classroom teachers;
  • assisting in maintaining a clean safe and healthy classrooms;
  • helping in monitoring kitchen and classroom supplies;
  • performing laundry duties;
  • preparing breakfast, supplements and catered meals.

Hourly rate will be $13.00. Work schedule will be no more than 27 hours a week.
The Paid Leave for All Workers Act allows part-time employees to earn 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked. For more information on this benefit, please visit IL Department of Labor, PFLA Act.
Position Requirements
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of college with at least 12 semester hours in courses related directly to Child Care or Child Development. Associate's Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or equivalency preferred.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have the ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
Applicants must be able to meet the following physical requirements:
  • Carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Walk up to 1 mile
  • Grip, hold and pinch small objects
  • Dexterity to reach, bend, squat, stoop and kneel on a regular basis
  • Frequent climbing (ex. ladders, stairs)

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, physical and functional capacity exam.
