Purpose
Supports and implements the program of the Classroom Teacher, Mild Disabilities Teacher or Special Education Teacher. Assist with assignments and prepare the necessary instructional materials according to the teacher's direction. Other responsibilities as needed and determined by the advising teacher.
Qualifications
Completion of two years of study (60+ hours) at an institution of higher education or possession of an associate's (or higher) degree is preferred. Previous experience as a classroom assistant desirable. Candidates must have a sincere interest in working with students in the learning process. Effective communication skills. Ability to take direction. Initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments. Patience and genuine interest in education of students. Awareness and respect for student diversity. Clerical skills, flexibility and confidentiality required.
