Job description

Wilson Construction Company has an immediate opening based out of our Rancho Cordova, CA office for an experienced, mid to upper level, Substation Project Manager with a positive, results-oriented attitude and the experience to lead and provide valuable input to project teams. Wilson has developed a steady backlog of work, and the candidate will be expected to relocate to projects as necessary.
Substation Project Manager responsibilities include working with project teams to provide technical and project management leadership on large, fast-paced utility substation construction projects. Duties will include the developing, planning, coordinating and the fulfillment of all technical requirements related to execution of assigned projects. The candidate must possess the ability to coordinate all project communication interdepartmentally, with the project owner when appropriate, while representing the company in day-to-day project tasks and activities.
Requirements & Responsibilities include:
• Five years of office and field management or technical services experience related to 15kV to 500kV utility electrical substation construction, including experience in mid-level management.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with managing EPC Substation Projects.
• Experience managing Greenfield and Brownfield Substation Projects.
• Experience with Utility Substation Construction and Renewable interconnects.
• Responsible for planning, budgeting and establishing/achieving project objectives.
• Responsible for Project Safety, Quality and Profitability.
• Possesses knowledge of permitting, planning, estimating, procurement and material management.
• Work closely with the Project Team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to the client's satisfaction.
• Report regularly on progress, cost, profit, schedule, design considerations, and project risks.
• Proficiency in MS Office. Experience in Microsoft Project and Primavera scheduling software is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management and clients.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to work outside and travel as required.
• This position will be based out of our office in Rancho Cordova, CA. Candidates must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office or be willing to relocate.
Successful candidates should have relevant experience in electrical substation project management for large-scale construction projects. Our ideal candidate will be an organized, motivated self-starter with specified experience within the utility construction industry.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and excellent benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, vision, 401(k), personal time off and holiday pay.
