Crafted Highlights:
In the role of the Substation Technician working at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado you will perform duties to support the operation and maintenance of medium/high electrical distribution equipment across multiple plants in the Golden Valley. This includes substation maintenance, protective relay setup and testing, SCADA troubleshooting and maintenance, performing critical LOTO for operation equipment, maintaining power lines and associated equipment onsite, and assisting in emergency power outage situations. All work shall be performed in a safe manner, always demonstrating proper use of safety equipment.
This role assures customer satisfaction through identifying, as an individual and as a member of a work unit, the internal and external customers; jointly determine customer needs and means of measurement to deliver mutually agreed upon products/services. Continually investigate methods to improve customer satisfaction to achieve the goal of quality relationships. Must be capable of working in a team-oriented environment.
This position reports to the Controls Systems Manager.
What You'll Be Brewing:
  • Perform set-up, adjustment, testing, and tracking of electro-mechanical relays
  • Perform PMs on critical distribution equipment and battery banks
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with NFPA70E, OSHA, EPA, FDA, Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out safety rules, codes, policies and regulations and Confined Entry policies.
  • Follow waste disposal and accumulation requirements as set out by the HAZMAT policy.
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction.
  • Work as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision.
  • Perform LOTO and work safely around equipment up to and including 230KV.
  • Performing work at elevation, utilizing a bucket truck
  • Assist Utility Operators in troubleshooting power outage root causes and implementing corrective and preventative action items
  • Coordinate substation outages with the Operations teams, to ensure minimal downtimes and high equipment reliability

Key Ingredients:
  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Industrial Journeyman level and/or on-the-job experience in a heavy industrial electrical/electronic/controls field.
  • Experience working safely with power up to 13.2KV but familiarity with 230K volts a plus.
  • Experience with power distribution equipment (substations, breakers, relays, transformers).
  • Proficient in the use of the following: test instruments (volt/ohm multi-meters, clamp-on amp meters, meggars transducers, protective relay testing)
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, one-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Working conditions: You will be working in areas of varying degrees of noise, dust, humidity, cold, and hot temperatures. Frequent need for stooping or crawling in cramped quarter and lifting of 50 pounds. Be able to work at elevation. You will wear a hard hat or bump cap, safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection. Ability to work any shift or schedule is required.
