Job description

Geode Capital Management, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Associate Database Administrator to join our System Operations (SysOps) team. On the SysOps Team, our mission is to support the whole firmโ€™s database administrative needs. In this role, you will see a direct correlation between your work efforts, asset growth, risk mitigation, and internal user satisfaction. Youโ€™ll have a rare opportunity to help solve compelling database administration challenges at a scale few organizations can match. As we continue to expand and create, we have a lot of exciting work ahead of us.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance, to ensure high levels of security, performance, availability, and resilience.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain, processes using T-SQL, Powershell, and SSIS.
  • Define and implement data access controls and monitoring.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
  • Be proactive and identify areas of improvement
  • Handle incident, problem, and change requests across all severity levels through enterprise ticketing systems, following established incident and change management processes
  • Document procedures, operational runbooks, and technical knowledge; share best practices with the team, and contribute to continuous learning and operational improvement
  • At times, provide off-hours support, including weekends and holidays, on a rotation
Skills You Bring:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in MS SQL or Postgres
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science or Information System
  • Proficient in supporting production database services per defined service level requirements
  • Knowledgeable in Database Administration with a focus on data cleanup, transformation, architecture, and automation
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing T-SQL queries
  • Proficiency in SQL with experience in major database systems (e.g., SQL Server and PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of industry standard database solutions, including high availability, database clusters, mirroring, and replication
  • Experience in database migration, troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Good understanding of database performance monitoring and tuning
  • Experience working in Linux and Windows environments
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Aurora)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools
  • Hands-on scripting experience with PowerShell or Pythion
  • Experience with advanced data movement techniques, including CDC
  • Financial industry experience preferred
