Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders' involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and directs subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractors' management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Role supports on large projects of high complexity with multiple stakeholders' involvement.

Planning
  • Reviews and monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews and approves where necessary, subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Leads the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

Safety / Quality
  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

Technical
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Extensive working knowledge of construction planning, monitoring and control.
  • Familiar with construction tools and equipment as well as their uses.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in piping operations; to ensure adequate coordination with all stakeholders for smooth and safe execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Experience managing union craft
  • Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills
