Job description

Facility Engineer

Powertrain, Manufacturing Engineering

Outline of Duties:

  • Requests and verifies process or equipment countermeasures when needed.
  • Actively pursues new ways of analyzing and communicating data to improve quality.
  • Conduct business process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained when requested.
  • Drives Kaizen activity applies statistical and other improvement tools.
  • Leads improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production.
  • Creates and maintains punch lists.
  • Supports and/or leads assigned shop in root cause analysis of any safety, quality, cost, or delivery concerns.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to recommend and countermeasure plant-wide issues.
  • Meets with and manages vendor project activities.
  • Occasional travel to vendors for equipment buyoffs, training, etc.  This can be local and/or international
  • Creates professional documents to record and track measurement results.
  • Leads and/or supports continuous improvement activities to improve process functionality.
  • Aids and supports Production, Production Engineering, Maintenance, Materials, and/or New Model Pilot Team in process validations as needed.
  • Use of various CAD software
  • Demonstrates development and control of project master schedules and budget management
  • Communicates effectively with all Associates, Leadership, vendors, etc.
  • Read and understand equipment electrical schematics and drawings
  • Modify existing electrical controls circuits and updating electrical drawings
  • Ability to read and understand PLC logic
  • Ability to modify and create new PLC programs for equipment control
  • Troubleshooting and modification of various mechanical systems
  • Modification of piping and control systems
  • Exposure to air, hydraulic, and water systems
  • Exposure to various automotive manufacturing systems such as conveyors, sealer dispensers, robotics
  • Developing detailed project specifications and instructions
  • Managing vendor activities during design, fabrication, and installation with strong follow up skills to ensure project closure.
  • Strong schedule management skills 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field 
  • 1 - 3 years relevant experience or 5 - 7 years relevant experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Engineering Technology or Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 7 -10 years relevant experience.
