Chapel Music Director (MD)
Part Time - 20 hours/week
Job Summary: The Chapel Music Director (MD) is responsible for the overall flow of the Chapel service at Central, including music selection and arrangement, worship service planning, scheduling musicians (choir, orchestra, band, vocals), organizing and leading rehearsals and leading worship for the Chapel service in a multi-venue setting. Includes Sundays and special services as scheduled. The Chapel MD works in tandem with musicians, pastors, technicians, and administrative team/staff to execute a traditional/blended worship style including hymns new and old, choruses recent and current, and development of musical and liturgical skill to ensure an excellent worship venue experience as we continue on our mission to help people flourish in their Kingdom calling.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Working closely with staff members in administrative and technical roles, perhaps in a supervisory capacity, depending on experience and ability.
The Chapel MD will report to the Chief Experience Pastor
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Select, arrange, and direct music for choir, orchestra, band, and special ensembles (Jazz, Bluegrass, Woodwinds, Brass, and other styles)
  • Plan and execute worship services aligned with the theme and flow of Central.
  • Lead, recruit, and develop the existing music team toward greater excellence.
  • Coordinates with the Experience team to ensure consistency between venues, high caliber musical and technical expression.
  • Shepherds and leads musicians in spiritual formation, worship practice, discipleship.

Required Skills:
  • Multi-modal musical capabilities: ability to direct choir, orchestra, band, and vocalists in excellent technique, heart-driven expression, and unified sound.
  • Theological understanding of the flow of worship, able to design and lead a service that is vibrant, participatory, and carries out the purpose and unique musical aspects of Chapel in a blended style.
  • Ability to work in missional harmony as part of our multivenue Experience team.
  • Pastoral shepherding and practical development of musicians/technicians/Chapel Team.
  • Most importantly, a flourishing relationship with Jesus Christ that is healthy, vibrant, and overflows into day-to-day leadership.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in music
  • Training and experience in leading worship
  • Gifting and calling for church leadership Experience leading different musical teams - band, ensembles, vocalists - and styles - hymns, blended, modern worship songs, jazz, bluegrass, etc.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sing, play, lead from an instrument in a standing or sitting position as needed
  • Ability to conduct a Choir and Orchestra
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time during rehearsals and services
