Job Description Summary

The Lawrence W. Tyree Library located at Santa Fe College's Northwest Campus supports the college's mission, goals, and curriculum with knowledgeable staff, appropriate resources, and an environment that promotes user success and life-long learning.
The library is hiring Work Study students to perform duties essential to library circulation, collection maintenance, and the provision of quality library services. The Work Study will maintain a functional and efficient work environment and ensure compliance with SF and FERPA policies.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Provides a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere by greeting to, responding to, and directing visitors at the Tyree Library service desks on the NW campus.

  • Accepts, screens, and routes telephone calls concerning activities and operations of the library, directing inquiries as appropriate.

  • Provides some front-line level of resolution to questions or concerns while making appropriate referrals as necessary.

  • Assists library users with borrowing materials, study room reservations, computers, printing, Wi-Fi-, and general library questions.

  • Shelves and assists in the maintenance of library materials.

  • Regularly moves throughout the interior and exterior of the building to identify and communicate any safety or policy concerns/needs.

  • Operates and maintains office equipment such as copy machines, laminators, and document shredders to scan documents, print documents, etc.

  • Ensures rooms are cleanly by wiping down desks in the testing room, computer lab, breakroom, and sanitizing desks/chairs.

  • Provides general administrative support for Library staff.

  • Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Must be a currently enrolled Santa Fe College student, in good academic standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Availability to work mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
