Description
The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor is a clinical track faculty position responsible for teaching in the didactic and clinical components of the program. The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor will work with the Program Director, Medical Director, PA Program faculty and staff to maintain and support the goals and needs of the program to assure compliance with accreditation standards. Rank determined after a review of applicable prior academic faculty experience.
Teaching responsibilities include course instruction and curriculum development, clinical seminar instruction, as well as other interprofessional instruction as needed. Additional faculty responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising, admissions, and participation in program and University committees. Faculty must not participate as health care providers for students in the program.
The UNE Physician Assistant (PA) Program is a recognized leader in northern New England for the education and training of high-quality PAs. Our dedicated faculty strive to teach our graduate students to become providers as part of an interprofessional team and to provide high quality, person-centered, healthcare. We provide opportunities for students to complete clinical rotations in rural or underserved communities with an understanding of the special needs of these populations. Responsibilities
  • Providing lecture/lab instruction and course content preparation
  • Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating curriculum
  • Evaluating student performance in the didactic and clinical components of the Program
  • Develop course assessments and remedial instruction
  • Academic advising of PA students throughout the curriculum
  • Participating in program admissions including application review and candidate interviews
  • Collaborate with the Program Director, Medical Director, and other PA faculty with accreditation related activities
  • Developing, reviewing and revising the mission statement and goals of the program
  • Participating in program continuous accreditation review and self-assessment
  • Perform local/regional visits to clinical sites for student and site development and evaluation as needed
  • Service to include Program, College and University committee membership
  • Engaging the medical community and clinical sites to provide specialty instructions and curriculum enhancement
  • Compliance with the University of New England Manuals and Handbooks
  • Assuming any other related duties necessary to develop and maintain an effective program

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a healthcare professions or related field
  • Minimum of three years of physician assistant clinical experience
  • NCCPA Certified or emeritus Physician Assistant/Associate
  • Eligible for licensure in Maine
  • Team oriented, collaborative work ethic
  • Knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice of Physician Assistant/Associate profession
  • Demonstrated team building, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Previous clinical teaching or higher education experience is preferred
