Founded in 2001, the Archer Center is where Texas meets the world. As the Washington, D.C., campus of The University of Texas System, the Archer Center provides talented undergraduate and graduate students from across the UT System with the opportunity to live, learn, and intern in the nation's capital. The Archer Center is seeking a student-centered Program Coordinator based in Washington, D.C., with a commitment to student success, experiential learning, and leadership development. A successful candidate will be public service minded and interested in the Archer Center's mission and vision.
Our Mission: We educate the next generation of bipartisan leaders for local, state, federal, and international service by offering varied experiential learning programs for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students from The University of Texas System.
Our Vision: To develop public- and private-sector leaders who understand the federal policymaking process, are able to solve relevant policy problems, contribute to improved civic engagement and civil society, and who elevate the public discourse about policy and politics.
The Program Coordinator provides direct support for the Archer Center and the Archer Fellows (both undergraduate and graduate) in Washington, D.C. Duties focus on administrative, logistical and program coordination for D.C.-based events and programming. In collaboration with colleagues from across the Archer Center, the Program Coordinator has a significant role in onboarding, communications, program planning and logistical tasks.
A successful candidate will be organized and detail-oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be poised and professional in representing the Archer Center, and handle confidential information with tact and discretion. This position requires a high level of organizational and time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that often includes multiple and shifting priorities. A successful candidate will be a go-getter and team player who is interested in public service, and the Washington, D.C. professional landscape.
This position is based in The University of Texas System Washington, D.C., Office/Archer Center and reports to the Program Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 3-5 years experience providing support to programs or projects or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Working knowledge of the UT System and UT campuses. Experience living and working in Washington, D.C., and with a range of public and private sector Washington-based institutions. Experience advising students on experiential learning and in student affairs, residential life, and internships. Must be exceptionally organized and detail-oriented and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a higher education or relevant professional setting. Must be collaborative, able to work with diverse populations and foster an atmosphere of respectful dialogue. A preferred candidate is interested in public policy and public service and supportive of the Archer Center's mission to educate the next generation of leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Archer Center Program Coordinator is a key member of the Archer Center's Student Support and Programming team. Duties include:
New Archer Fellow Onboarding
  • Assist Archer Center team with newly admitted student onboarding, serving as point person for multiple onboarding-related tasks, including enrollment, registration and access to course management systems/platforms, collection, follow-up and confirmation of incoming student forms, and other onboarding-related duties as assigned.
  • Provide timely responses to student onboarding-related questions.
  • Collaborate with Archer Center staff to assist with new student orientation events for undergraduates (summer) and graduates (winter).

Communications
  • Ensure clear communication with students regarding programmatic schedule and expectations. Keep program calendar(s) up-to-date and disseminate the calendar(s) to stakeholders, including students and leadership, alumni, faculty, and colleagues.
  • Assist Program Manager and Communications Manager in documenting Archer Fellow and Archer Center events through photos and other media. Assist with other communication duties, as assigned.

Residential Life
  • Assist the Program Manager and Residential Life Program Associate with housing assignments, accommodations, and provide administrative support for student life programs and events.
  • Support the Residential Life Program Associate in the coordination of residential programming and student life activities.
  • Serve on the D.C.-based emergency contact and student support team, along with senior D.C.-based colleagues.

Fellowship Activities
  • Coordinate Archer Fellowship events and programming under the direction of the Program Manager and provide administrative support for fellowship activities.
  • Assist D.C.-based team in coordination of Archer Center student, supporter, alumni, and Advisory Board events, including welcome and graduation weeks.

Internships
  • Research new internship opportunities and disseminate opportunities to Archer Fellows.
  • Assist the Program Manager, Communications Manager and D.C.-based team with posting and sharing internship opportunities with Archer Fellows.
  • Collect (and share) internship-related documents to support professional development colleagues and faculty.
  • Support the Archer Center in internship-related recordkeeping and in the maintenance of comprehensive internship data.
Mentorship Program
  • In collaboration with Archer Center colleagues, coordinate the Archer Fellow Mentor Program, connecting Archer Fellows with alumni, friends of the Archer Center and Archer Center donors and supporters.
  • In concert with Archer Center colleagues, coordinate Archer Fellow alumni panels for events such as orientations, welcome week, graduation week, and networking events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Evening and weekend hours may be required.
