Job Description
This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for the current and/or upcoming academic year. While the department may not be actively recruiting at this time, applicants who meet all minimum qualifications and have submitted complete application materials will be contacted if a substitute position becomes available.
San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our San Bernardino Valley College on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.
Job Description:Student workers will assist in providing general support and assistance to staff. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist with digitizing past student records
  • Assist with Honors Institute recruiting needs
  • Assist in distribution of general program information
  • Assist with Honors events
  • Assist with updating records
  • Assist in Lounge set up/clean up
  • Assist in other clerical tasks as assigned
  • Assist in answering student questions
  • Serve as a positive role model
  • Maintain confidentiality with any shared information.
  • Participate in and complete all other duties as assigned.

Student will assist with staffing the Honors Lounge on Wednesdays and Thursdays aiding Honors Chair and/or Honors Counselor on Mondays and Tuesdays and with special events TBA.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Students must have a Federal Work Student award letter for the current academic year.
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Students cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
  • Students must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA
  • Students must have a current TB
  • Students must be available for at least four hours on Wednesdays & Thursdays
  • Students must be able to follow directions
  • Students must be familiar with Word and Excel
  • Preference will be given to a current member of the SBVC Honors Program

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
Employment Requirements
The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
  • Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
  • Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment
  • Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
