Job description

Duties Description Support Office of Sustainability (OSUS) activities related to tracking agency performance measures to achieve the State's goals to promote sustainable operations in compliance with federal and State laws, executive orders and guidance.
Responsibilities include:
• Supporting the development of policies and procedures, data collection and analysis of agency operational sustainability metrics and performance reporting.
• Assisting in evaluating sustainability objectives and in measuring the social, economic, and ecological impact(s) of existing and proposed plans, policies and projects.
• Delivering data driven recommendations to identify opportunities to implement sustainable operations practices and procedures.
• Performing a variety of tasks including carrying out projects, assisting higher level staff, reviewing regulated activities, and making determinations or recommendations based on research, inspections, investigations, and analyses.
• Participating in Statewide working groups to support sustainability performance management goals.
• Applying knowledge of applicable State and federal climate related laws, regulations and guidance to provide advice, consultation and guidance on programs and issues to agency staff.
The preferred candidate will have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities; proactively develop strategies to promote agency operational sustainability and decarbonization efforts and opportunities; possess an awareness of State sustainability and climate leadership policies and exercise discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills, communicate well with staff at all levels of this and other agencies and be proficient in the use of a variety of software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint and GIS.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations..

Additional Comments Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
