Job description

Job Title: SGA Executive Officer, Student Leadership

Department: Office of Student Life

Supervisor: Bradley Taylor

Starting Rate of Pay: $9.00

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

Department Description

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the official voice of the student body, serving as the link between students, faculty, and administration at High Point University. SGA's goal is to enhance student experience by promoting involvement and implementing policies that reflect student needs by hearing and advocating on behalf of the students.

Job Description

Specified elected or appointed Executive Cabinet (EC) officers will serve a paid role (up to 20 hours per week) dedicated to representing the student body, executing planning duties, maintaining scheduled office hours, and upholding the standards of High Point University. Officers are required to report on their office hours and activities to the SGA Advisor, or their designee.

Job Location/ Hours Required

Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings.

Most job responsibilities will be carried out during the designated office hours' time and location, unless otherwise specified with SGA Advisor.

Hours may vary depending on the calendar for a particular week; however, the maximum number of hours a student employee may work is 20 hours per week.

All hours will be submitted in a timely manner to the SGA Advisor.

Required Qualifications

Current HPU student

Good standing with the Office of Community Standards

Must maintain a professional social media presence

Must attend any mandatory meetings or training sessions

Must have been elected or appointed to a position with SGA

Must have and maintain a 2.7 overall GPA

Specific Responsibilities

Each position will use these hours to fulfill EC duties, including but not limited to, recurring administrative tasks and the unique responsibilities detailed below.

President

Planning, preparation, and hosting training sessions and EC meetings

Meetings as the official representative for SGA to report on or back to EC, Senate and other EC members

Coordinating and compiling the annual report for presentation to the Office of Student Life

Supporting and collaborating with Class Officers through regular check-ins to coordinate responsibilities, events, and initiatives.

Vice President

Planning, preparation, and hosting of Refresher, Senate and UCAB meetings

Compiling, documenting, and presenting relevant information for those meetings

Supporting and collaborating with Senators and ad-hoc committees through regular check-ins to coordinate responsibilities, events, and initiatives.

Treasurer

Tracking, reporting, responding to, and managing all Financial Requests and organizational finances

Meeting with and training SGA members, club advisors, or club treasurers as needed on financial policy and procedures

Reviewing, managing, and preparing all budget and bill submissions

Secretary

Recording, compiling, and circulation of minutes for all meetings

Maintaining up-to-date internal organization records and contacts

Communicating timely all announcements, and notifications with all relevant parties

Chief of Staff

Planning and preparation for all EC meetings in collaboration with the President

Supporting and collaborating with EC members through regular check-ins to coordinate responsibilities, events, and initiatives.

Chief Justice

Tracking, coordinating, and reviewing documents for organizations who are seeking to be chartered

Meeting with and preparing organizations for their Student Affairs Committee (SAC) meetings

Attorney General

Managing and coordinating all aspects of SGA elections, including campaign meetings, candidate submissions, voting processes, and election communications

Acting as the sergeant-at-arms for all Senate meetings and trainings
