Job description

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Campus Supervisor.

SUMMARY

Maintaining Library materials in order and assisting staff in a variety of tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shelving library materials
  • Emptying book return bins, and discharging library materials
  • Shelf reading library as needed
  • Shifting books on shelves when needed
  • Photocopying or scanning as required
  • Emptying small recycling bins into large blue bins
  • Picking up discarded library books within the library and bring to Checkout Counter for counting
  • Assisting with library promotion and events
  • A strong social media user with a desire to contribute content and learn about processes, procedures and best practices
  • Assisting with discarding weeded library materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current KPU student in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Ability to take direction and complete assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Knowledge of Library procedures and Library of Congress Classification System an asset
  • Demonstrated aptitude for accuracy and detail-oriented work
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and move materials on carts is required

AVAILABILITY

  • Work schedule will be approximately 8 hours weekly
  • 8 hours per week, split into two 4-hour shifts (Monday to Friday).
  • Each shift includes one 15-minute break.
  • Work days and hours are flexible depending on class schedules.

Salary Information

Student Assistants are paid as per the following:

Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum Wage

One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%

With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
