Job description

Position Description

The Housing Assistant (HA) position is a student employment role within the Office of Student

Housing and Residence Life at Cameron University for the 2026-2027 academic year. This

position is contingent upon available funding and includes a variety of responsibilities related to

assisting students, supporting housing operations, and performing general duties necessary for

the smooth functioning of university housing.

Key Responsibilities:

        Office Hours: Maintain set office hours during the day as assigned to ensure availability

for students, staff, and visitors, providing a consistent point of contact for questions,

concerns, or assistance.

        Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional face-to-face assistance to students,

staff, and visitors, including helping residents navigate housing services, addressing

concerns, and providing guidance on housing policies and procedures.

        Communication: Answer phones, handle inquiries, and direct calls as necessary,

ensuring timely and accurate information is provided. Communicate effectively with

residents regarding work orders, updates, or other housing-related issues.

        Administrative Tasks: Assist with filing, paperwork, and other clerical duties, including

maintaining records of resident interactions, work orders, and other documentation to

support smooth office operations.

        Mail and Packages: Sort, distribute, and manage resident mail and packages efficiently,

notifying residents of deliveries and helping ensure timely access to their items.

        Resident Support: Assist residents with lockouts, submitting and tracking work orders,

resolving room or other issues, and providing guidance on housing-related concerns to

promote a safe and supportive living environment.

        Miscellaneous Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by Student Housing

Professional Staff, which may include giving tours to prospective students and visitors,

helping create marketing materials or promotions for housing programs, assisting with

photography or content for marketing purposes, and supporting housing events and

initiatives.

Position Requirements

The HA position is open to students who meet the following criteria:

        Enrollment: Must be enrolled as a student at Cameron University.

        GPA Requirement: Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to apply

for and retain the position.

Compensation

Housing Assistants (HAs) will be compensated at a rate of designated by the supervisor.

Working hours may vary depending on the needs of the department. HAs are expected to

maintain flexibility in their schedules to accommodate operational requirements, special

projects, and emergency situations as needed.
