Job description

Student Employment Opportunity: Telecounselor
**This position is for current Palmer College of Chiropractic students only.
The Student Telecounselor is responsible for contacting prospective students by telephone, grading or telequalifying them and then entering this information in our computer database.
Organizational Relationships:
  1. Line. Responsibilities for communications staff are assigned by the Communications Coordinator, Communications Supervisor and the Director of Admissions.

  1. Staff. Assists the Admissions staff and Communications Supervisor with daily duties as requested. Assist the Telecommunication Coordinator.

Specific Duties:
  1. Responsible for tracking calling results and preparing administrative reports.

  1. Maintains inquiry calling files and cards.

  1. Recommends programs and initiatives for student recruitment and contact.

  1. Call designated inquiry list to grade the inquiry for their interest level, anticipated entry date and to answer questions. Enter this information in the POISE computer database.

  1. Assist staff with special projects, inventories, campus tours, filing, data entry, answering phones, reception, and mailings for special events.

  1. Duties as assigned.

Methods of Accountability:
  1. Must maintain professionalism with prospective students and staff at all times.

  1. Must be available to work the number of hours and the times necessary to keep current on Admissions phone calls.

  1. Must be able to work during scheduled school breaks, evening and weekend hours.

  1. Must maintain compliance with college policies, procedures and expectations.

Mental and Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to work with little supervision.

  1. Ability to perform assigned duties amid constant interruptions and time deadlines.

  1. Ability to concentrate on assigned tasks for periods, including standing or sitting, until tasks are completed.

  1. Strong Communication Skills.

Educational/Skills:
  1. Must be a student enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic having knowledge of chiropractic and admissions requirements.

  1. Data entry experience and personal computing skills required. Knowledge of other office equipment.

  1. Must have an ability to communicate professionally by phone and to work well with people.

Working Environment and Conditions:
  • Performs assigned duties in a ventilated lighted and temperature-controlled office environment. Involves working evenings or weekend hours.

Student's length of employment will be from the date of hire until termination either by student or the supervisor not to exceed the student's graduation from Palmer College.
