Job Description Summary:

The William & Mary School of Education is recruiting a pool of persons for the 2025-2026 academic year to be considered for possible university supervisor positions. The university supervisor is responsible for mentoring and supervising W&M teacher candidates during their student teaching experience and is the instructor of record for student teaching. Supervisors observe the student teachers 5 times across a semester in K-12 public school settings, provide coaching, formatively evaluate their performance, provide written feedback, and facilitate conferences with each student-teacher-cooperating teacher pair. In addition, the supervisor completes two formal, evaluations of each student teacher's performance, and serves as a liaison between the university and area schools. The university supervisor is required to attend one training session per year.
Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Hired candidates are required to provide official transcripts before the contracted start date. Applicants must be willing and able to travel to placement sites in partner school divisions. The review of applications is ongoing. We will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this vacancy.
Compensation is $682 per student supervised. Mileage reimbursement for required site visits will be provided following the W&M travel policy and process.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.

  • Former teacher and/or instructional administrator in a public school division.

  • At least three years of successful, full-time teaching.

  • Written or verbal recommendation(s) of former supervisors or administrative colleagues.

  • Current or former state teaching license.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educational coaching or mentoring experience, especially with novice teachers.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability and willingness to travel to any of the placement school sites and partner divisions.

  • This is a restricted appointment, limited to a specified term.
