Culinary Lab Assistant
Position Description
Lincoln Land Community College is seeking Culinary Lab Assistants to provide support in the operation and monitoring of lab processes, equipment and supplies, and activities in both the credit classes and Community Education classes and dinners in the Culinary Arts Programs.
The Culinary Lab Assistants will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Assist instructor before class to prep and organize, be available for assistance during class, and monitor and assist in cleanup after class as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of labs including cleaning, organizing, and preventative maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to, washing and putting away dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, sweeping and mopping, unloading and organizing product and other various general kitchen cleaning.
  • Assist in the requisition of products for classes. Put away non-used product after class is over. Assist in keeping coolers and dry storage neat, clean, and organized.
  • Assist in multi-course, fine dining dinner prep, plate up and clean up including, but not limited to, washing and putting away dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, sweeping and mopping,
  • Assist in front of house full service fine dining service including, but not limited to, dining room set up, food running, table side service, bussing tables, drink service, washing and putting away dishes, cleaning dining room, sweeping and mopping.
  • Assist in demonstrations or functions as needed.
  • Prep various food products as needed for lab use and special events.

Compensation will be based on experience and will range between $18-$20 per hour. Lab Assistants will be scheduled to work up to 27 hours per week, including weekday daytime hours, two to three evenings and some Saturday mornings.

Position Requirements
Culinary Lab Assistants must:
  • Uphold LLCC's mission, as well as certain standards of conduct within the College and in dealings with students, staff, faculty and the general public.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other regulations with regard to confidentiality of and access to student and other institutional records.
  • Complete LLCC's mandatory harassment prevention training within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience in LLCC culinary labs highly preferred or equivalent kitchen experience.
  • Possess current industry Food Managers, Allergen and Bassett certification or ability to acquire training preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
