Posting Description:
Newark Charter School is seeking substitute nurse candidates to provide health and wellness support to our students, families and staff on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of RN nursing experience; preferably a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an Accredited college or university.
  • Prefer knowledge of pediatric nursing especially K-12 grades, triage experience and emergency nursing a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge in first aid, immunizations, and communicable diseases.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to schools is a plus.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, and staff.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for working with students and implementing best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Position Description and Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Perform nursing assessment for ill or injured students and staff; apply appropriate and current nursing theory as basis for providing nursing care, first aid, intervention and referrals for those students and staff as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, staff, health care providers, and parents to ensure access and continuity of care for students.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the student.

Certification Requirements:
  • License to practice as a registered nurse, issued by the Delaware Board of Nursing or a part of compact state consortium, and is in good standing.
  • Valid and current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
