Job description
The Assistant Director Student Activities is responsible for developing campus community and student leadership skills, by assessing, training, and advising student leaders who provide campus-wide programming and student representation, planning and implementing campus events.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Develops student leadership skills by advising student leaders; designing and facilitating leadership development and training opportunities; teaching event planning and programming skills; supervising student-led activities; and developing and implementing assessment and risk management protocol.
2. Implements campus-wide programming by planning and coordinating events; advising student leaders; securing equipment, supplies, and event space; collaborating with campus partners; developing marketing strategies; and creating and implementing assessment and risk management protocols.
3. Supervises student programs and activities, including some night and weekend programs.
4. Serves as the primary advisor for one of Student Activities' student leadership boards.
5. Collaboratively create, coordinate, implement, and assess campus traditions such as Frogs First, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Tree Lighting, and Senior Sunset.
6. Provides financial and risk management oversight for programs by coordinating with on- and off-campus partners to negotiate contracts, ensure proper insurance coverage, and develop and implement safety and risk management plans.
7. Process invoices and contracts supporting the programming and student leadership efforts of multiple budget departments.
8. Evaluate event success and efficiency by developing and implementing participant feedback mechanisms; analyzing data; and writing summary reports.
9. Assesses student learning by implementing student leader feedback mechanisms; analyzing data; and writing summary reports.
10. Serves on divisional and University committees related to on-campus traditions and events.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Leadership Development, or a related field of study
• 2 years of program management experience in higher education environment including but not limited to, advising, teaching, or facilitating student development.

• Ability to collaboratively work with physical plant support services, conference services, instructional services, and food services as it relates to campus-wide programming.
