Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking motivated and dependable Telecommunications Technicians to support structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout the Greater Fort Wayne area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build or expand their career in the low-voltage, telecommunications, and network infrastructure industry. Technicians will work alongside experienced professionals installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting voice and data cabling systems in commercial and industrial environments.

This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced field environment while maintaining high-quality installation standards and adhering to all safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, route, secure, and terminate low-voltage telecommunications cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Perform cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and pathway management in commercial facilities.
  • Install telecommunications hardware such as patch panels, racks, cabinets, faceplates, j-hooks, ladder racks, and cable management systems.
  • Complete punch-downs, terminations, and cross-connects according to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Test and troubleshoot cabling systems to verify proper performance and connectivity.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify issues, and assist with repairs or upgrades to existing telecommunications systems.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of network and communications equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, materials used, and project progress.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, project managers, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience with structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage systems, or related construction environments preferred.
  • Understanding of cable installation practices, including pulling, terminating, and testing copper cabling.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for voice and data network infrastructure.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts as required.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, installation instructions, and project drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when required.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
Preferred Experience
  • Structured cabling installation (Cat5e/Cat6).
  • Punch-down and termination experience.
  • Commercial construction or low-voltage installation experience.
  • Experience with fiber optic cabling and testing.
