About the Role:

The Cloud Data Center Whitespace Deployment Engineer is responsible for executing the physical deployment of data center whitespace environments, serving as the bridge between engineering design and operational implementation. This role oversees installation of racks, power distribution systems, containment infrastructure, and structured cabling, ensuring deployments meet engineering specifications, safety standards, schedule requirements, and operational readiness criteria before handoff to Operations and Cloud Infrastructure teams.

What You'll Be Working On:

  • Manage on-site deployment of whitespace infrastructure including rack positioning, floor grid layouts, and containment systems

  • Direct installation of hot aisle and cold aisle containment to achieve specified airflow management and cooling performance

  • Supervise deployment of structured cabling systems including fiber backbones, patch panels, and cable tray infrastructure

  • Coordinate with networking teams to ensure cabinet elevations and port mapping follow established design standards

  • Validate physical implementation of redundancy configurations such as N+1 and 2N to meet SLA requirements

  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for electrical, mechanical, and cabling contractors during deployment phases

  • Perform quality assurance inspections to verify contractor work meets engineering specifications and safety standards

  • Manage hardware delivery, staging, and installation workflows to maintain deployment timelines

  • Maintain accurate asset tracking, as-built documentation, and port mapping records

  • Provide deployment status reporting including milestone tracking and identification of risks to Ready for Service (RFS) dates

  • Partner with design engineering teams to resolve field conflicts between design intent and site conditions

  • Coordinate with site operations teams to ensure smooth operational handoff including training and documentation

  • Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to manage material flow and site readiness

  • Develop and standardize deployment playbooks to reduce time-to-market for new capacity

  • Ensure adherence to Method of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements during installation activities

  • Identify deployment bottlenecks and recommend modular or prefabricated solutions to improve efficiency

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data center construction, commissioning, or deployment within hyperscale or colocation environments

  • Field knowledge of power distribution paths from UPS systems to rack-level equipment

  • Experience with cooling infrastructure deployment and airflow management strategies

  • Expertise in structured cabling installation and fiber optic testing including OTDR and LSPM methods

  • Experience using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools

  • Ability to review and redline CAD/BIM drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Bluebeam

  • Understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), OSHA safety requirements, and BICSI cabling standards

  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and cross-functional deployment teams

  • Ability to support multiple concurrent projects in field environments

  • Willingness to travel to construction sites, typically 25–50% or more

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off & paid holidays

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off
