Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in San Francisco, CA that is seeking an IT Infrastructure & Cabling Engineer.
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced IT Infrastructure & Cabling Engineer to lead the design, assessment, and implementation of structured cabling and low voltage infrastructure systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on expert who can balance technical design with field execution and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement structured cabling systems, including Category 5e, Category 6A, and fiber optic networks
* Develop detailed scopes of work for backbone and horizontal cabling infrastructure
* Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing infrastructure, identify capacity gaps, and recommend improvements
* Design telecommunications rooms based on building size, layout, and IT requirements
* Create and maintain technical documentation to support design development and construction efforts
* Support add/move/change (MAC) infrastructure activities and system connectivity for IT devices
* Perform on-site quality inspections to ensure installations meet standards and specifications
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders across IT, facilities, security, and engineering teams
* Provide recommendations to modernize outdated or over-capacity infrastructure environments
Partner with engineering teams to support:
* Mechanical planning (HVAC requirements based on IT equipment)
* Electrical planning (UPS sizing and pathway design)
Work Environment & Schedule:
* Flexible day shift schedule
* Up to 50% travel required, including visits to multiple sites as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
* High School diploma or equivalent
* 7+ years of experience designing, installing, and maintaining low voltage and structured cabling systems
* Strong expertise in copper and fiber optic infrastructure design and deployment
* Solid understanding of telecommunications, data, security, and wireless systems
* Experience conducting site assessments and producing technical design documentation
* Knowledge of engineering/design tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
* RCDD Certification
* Industry certifications and/or manufacturer experience (e.g., BICSI, Commscope, Panduit, Hubbell, Corning, Leviton, AV systems)
* Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
* Familiarity with regulated environments and device connectivity requirements
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
