The successful candidate will have at least 3+ year of experience in estimating for a structural steel fabricator/erector or at least 2 years of experience with a college degree in architecture, construction management, or civil/structural engineering. Must be able to read architectural and structural drawings. Hands-on working knowledge of structural steel estimating, Blue Beam, CAD, and STRUMIS are a definite plus. Must have strong estimation, analysis and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines, be detail-oriented and possess strong leadership qualities. The Steel Estimator will be responsible for developing competitive structural steel bids and budgets for existing and new customers in commercial, structural, or miscellaneous steel.

Job Summary: The Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with structural and miscellaneous steel projects. This role involves reviewing project plans and specifications, determining material quantities, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Key Performance Objectives:

· Review Project Documents per AISC/QMS specifications: Analyze and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine material and labor requirements.

· Material Quantity Takeoff: Accurately quantify and calculate the required materials, including steel beams, columns, connections, and other related components

· Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and competitive "lump sum" cost estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel projects, considering material costs, labor costs, overhead, and profit margins.

· Vendor and Subcontractor Quotations: Obtain and analyze quotes from steel suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors to ensure competitive pricing.

· Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and provide value engineering suggestions when necessary.

· Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit "lump sum" detailed, comprehensive and competitive bids for structural and miscellaneous steel projects within specified deadlines by using an Excel Takeoff. Spreadsheet for all Materials, Labor, Buyout Costs, and Equipment Costs. This will be used to build a Scope of Work(inclusions/exclusions) for the Project that is being Estimated

· Maintain and keep accurate records of all estimates, quotations, and communications related to each project.

· Establish and maintain positive relationships and ethical practices with owners, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

· Assist in maintaining existing estimating productivity database

· Track past bids and communicate with the General Contractors for status updates for bid awards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily if not above expectations. · Quantitative take offs

· Reviews and interprets requests for quotes (RFQs)

· Prepare and review "lump sum" estimates for Structural and Miscellaneous steel projects for completeness and accuracy - inclusions/exclusions.

· Review and understand bid documents, including all specifications and scope of work.

· Communicate progress and updates to management.

· Prepare, present, and distribute project information to the PM, internal support staff, and customers.

· Excellent presentation and communication skills

· Manage bid process per AISC/QMS specifications. Ensure all materials, labor, and equipment costs are accurately included n estimates

· Working knowledge of Advanced Steel, Blue Beam, StruMIS a plus. Ability to read blueprints is required.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

· The ideal candidate will have experience in the steel industry with structural steel estimating.

· Knowledge of AISC certification, structural codes and standards as well as AISC Practices, Rules, and Regulations regarding Steel Construction and Design.

· Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings

· Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and industry standards.

· Ability to calculate costs and prepare estimates.

· Standard Construction Practices and Procedures from Award to Closeout.

· Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent organizational and both Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors

· Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities

· Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, civil/structural engineering, or related field preferred.

· Proficient in MS Office, with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

· Proficient with Blue Beam and On-Screen Takeoff.
