What does a structural engineering intern do?

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you'll typically assist with tasks such as preparing drawings and calculations, reviewing construction documents, conducting site visits, and supporting senior engineers in analyzing building materials and structural systems. You may also use software like AutoCAD or Revit to create or update plans. Interns often work closely within multidisciplinary teams, gaining exposure to real-world projects and learning how to communicate technical information effectively. This hands-on experience helps you build practical skills and understand how structural engineering projects are managed from concept to completion.

What is a structural engineering internship?

Structural engineering internships are temporary positions for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the field of structural engineering. Interns typically assist professional engineers with tasks such as drafting plans, conducting site visits, performing calculations, and learning industry software. These internships help interns apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, develop technical and communication skills, and build professional networks.
