Job description

Facilities Inspector / New Construction and Renovations

Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) is seeking a full time Facilities Inspector to work in Frederick County, MD. 

Responsibilities:
  • Inspector will lead inspection efforts for various vertical/facility/building projects, related to Frederick County, MD.  Inspector should be familiar with all aspects of building trades such as architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, telecom, fire alarm, Fire Protection, life safety, security, landscaping, and/or civil work.    
  • Inspect ongoing construction for adherence to project drawings and specifications with experience in building construction as listed above.
  • Ensure that the overall project execution will be documented daily and must follow and document all related quality assurance and quality control standards including but not limited to contractor construction materials, quantities, personnel, site conditions, safety, etc.  
  • Primary duty is to serve as a key member and a key representative of the firm's construction inspection discipline and will report directly to project manager.
  • Review plans and specifications associated with assigned work on active construction contracts
  • Oversee daily operations of contractor and subcontractor personnel to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with the documents
  • Answer basic contractor questions about plans and specification requirements
  • Identify contractor means and methods that are and inconsistent with plans and specifications , and discuss needed changes with the contractor as well as the project manager.
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for complete work
  • Attend pre installation meetings and identify potential issues with installation before they occur
  • Prepare daily reports including labor, equipment, materials, safety, etc
  • Photo document all project activities and save to company drive 

Required Experience/Skills:
  • Candidates shall possess a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience or a minimum of ten (10) years equivalent experience.
  • Candidates shall possess experience inspecting commercial architectural, structural, and interior finishes.
  • Construction trade experience related to commercial gypsum wall board assemblies, ceilings, insulation, roofing, and miscellaneous metals is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and must have good oral, written communication, and computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office products.  Must have the ability to navigate an iPad or similar tablet with ease.
  • Adherence to Maryland Aviation Administration COVID-related and Security/Safety protocols is required.

Salary Range and Benefits:
  • Non-exempt position with the potential of overtime pay (time and a half)
  • Expected base salary range:  $35.00/hour to $45.00/hour
  • Monthly cell phone allowance provided
