Position Description: We are looking for a highly-skilled structural engineer with a demonstrated history of success working on health care projects, higher education projects, or existing building seismic evaluation and retrofit projects in California, to join our Orange office.

Job Description: Principals are leaders of the firm and are expected to mentor and develop technical staff, effectively manage engineering projects, and successfully develop client relationships and obtain projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct the project team from conceptual design through construction administration.
  • Keep group staff fully utilized while maintaining a high staff effective multiplier.
  • Supervise staff and coordinate activities of project managers.
  • Guide project teams to meet/exceed client expectations of quality and service.
  • Lead staff development opportunities to ensure skills are acquired to support firm growth.
  • Confidently communicate key messages and expectations with clarity and transparency.
  • Model, promote and hold others accountable to a culture of teamwork, inclusion, collaboration and respect.
  • Serve as a technical leader in the firm.
  • Maintain a target client base that will permit the achievement of annual project manager revenue goals.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required (MS degree in Structural Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of 13 years of education and engineering experience in the structural, seismic, or forensic engineering fields beyond BS degree.
  • California Civil Engineering license required. (Registration as a Structural Engineer in California preferred.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management and structural, seismic, or forensic experience to assure both technical and management competence at this level.
  • A target client base that will permit the achievement of annual project manager revenue goals.

Desired Qualifications:
  • MS degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Registration as a Structural Engineer in California.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience managing technical staff.
  • Experience in post-earthquake reconnaissance and/or research related to structural, seismic, or forensic engineering.
  • Active participation in professional or client-based activities.
