Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a full-time Structural/Civil to sit in our West Des Moines, IA office. Our team works with local communities on a wide range of bridge projects. We are looking for a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training who would work with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs and office staff in various capacities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for specific projects.
  • Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
  • Assist Project Manager in completing project within budget and on schedule.
  • Perform structural design calculations.
  • Use Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD to aid with design and plan preparation.
  • Ability to work and train less experienced staff with design and plan preparation tasks.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required
  • 5-10 yeras of civil/structural engineering design experience preferred/desired
  • Iowa PE license or EIT certification or ability to obtain either within 6 months preferred
  • Previous bridge design experience desired
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Bridge inspection certification desired
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering optional
  • Proficiency with Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD desired
