Job description

Our client is an established engineering firm with offices across Iowa. Their areas of focus include structural engineering, civil engineering, land surveying, and 3D scanning. They deliver unique technical solutions and outstanding service — and are now seeking a Structural Engineer to join their growing team.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer, the Structural Engineer will:

•      Calculate loads and select structural members based on forces and service demands

•      Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects — with primary focus on industrial

•      Design shallow and deep foundations, underground concrete vaults and tunnels, and slab reinforcement for varied loading conditions

•      Develop structural connections, including unique solutions caused by field interferences

•      Verify field conditions, constructability of designs, and assist in resolving on-site problems

•      Interpret and design from domestic and foreign structural building codes

•      Prepare reports, designs, and drawings; redline for Revit Designers; review submittals for accuracy

•      Receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers

•      Interact directly with clients


QUALIFICATIONS

•      Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college or university

•      Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam


REQUIRED SKILLS

•      Team-oriented with strong communication skills across clients and disciplines

•      Proficient in: RISA 3D, Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite


Project types include: steel, concrete, and masonry industrial buildings; complex cast-in-place concrete foundations/walls; wood-framed commercial and multipurpose complexes; residential buildings; and historical retrofits.
