Job description

McCormick Taylor is seeking an experienced Structural/Bridge Engineer (Structural Engineer III) with a minimum of 6 years of bridge design experience to join our Verona, VA or Glen Allen, VA office location. The primary duties of the Structural Engineer III are to perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations for various transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and VDOT specifications and standards. Qualified candidates should have a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to bridge design; geotechnical/foundation design, substructure design, superstructure design, and retaining and noise walls.

This position will also provide the opportunity to develop and lead the regional Virginia structural engineering group. Performing complex structural planning analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects Perform detailed structural calculations in support of design and rehabilitation for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls Develop structural drawings, construction details and geometry layouts Prepare quantities and engineering cost estimates Provide internal quality control to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) as necessary Assist Manager with business development and Virginia region project growth Opportunity to develop and lead the regional structural engineering group.
