Job description

General Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Structural EIT duties include structural planning, designing, engineering and producing construction documentation utilizing Revit and various structural engineering methods and software. Additional duties include assistance with specification writing and construction administration services. This position reports administratively to both the Studio Director and the Director of Engineering, with day-to-day guidance and task assignments by the Structural Team Leader.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution with an emphasis or specific coursework in structural engineering for buildings
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is not mandatory, but recommended
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and hold an EIT certification
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential along with strong listening, verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate project objectives, problems, solutions and scope changes with clients, field personnel and internal staff
  • Ability to facilitate close work with clients, support personnel and internal staff to achieve deadlines and quality work
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team/collaborative setting, make sound decisions and drive action
  • Demonstrated exceptional planning, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply logical steps to problem solving
  • Ability to function effectively in a demanding environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Familiarity using Revit to model structural elements and produce structural drawings
  • Having structural analysis software is a plus, but not required (examples: RISA 3D, RAM Elements, Enercalc, ETABS, SAP)

                Must be self-motivated

                • Knowledge of building codes, regulations and requirements along with thorough knowledge of building materials and construction methods, knowledge of procedures and sequencing of construction documents will eventually be required
                • Ability to organize and prioritize personal workload and make necessary adjustments to meet strict deadlines; must be results oriented and milestone driven
                • Ability to work with modest supervision and guidance
                • Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
                • Have a natural desire for continuous professional improvement/development

                        Physical Requirements and Environmental Adaptability

                        • Occasional travel may be required
                        • Activities may be necessary outside of the normal office hours depending on workload, schedules and client geographical location

                            The base salary for this role is between $65,000 - $97,000 based on experience.
