Job description

Position Summary Operate airless striping machine or spray gun to paint, runways, taxiways, directional signs on taxiways, aircraft terminal parking areas, curbs, arrows, crosswalks and other markings on airport roadways and pavement; operate heavy snow-removal equipment; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Essential and Supplemental Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.

Drive, operate and maintain airless striping machine to paint, runways, taxiways, directional signs on taxiways, aircraft terminal parking areas, curbs, arrows and crosswalks on airport roadways and pavement. Check performance of the various components of the striper including air compressor, heaters, paint lines, striping guns and timers; troubleshoot equipment failures and report unresolved problems to assigned staff. Operate laser pointer or mechanical pointer to guide striper on previously painted marks or lines for the purpose of painting or repainting lane lines, center lines, turn bays or curbs.

Read, interpret and follow blue prints and drawings required to lay-out unmarked pavement for painting. Operate and maintain a walk behind striper to mark parking spaces and other markings of similar configuration. Remove old paint markings by grinding and spraying with black-out paint; ensure previous markings are invisible prior to application of new paint.

Operate heavy snow-removal equipment during unfavorable weather conditions. Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; maintain effective communications with communications tower. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. High school diploma or GED; and Three (3) years of pavement striping and marking experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B). Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable. Working Conditions Environmental: Field environment; work around traffic; exposure to noise and inclement weather conditions

Physical: Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light to moderate lifting and carrying; standing and walking for prolonged periods; and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
